WEST LA

A warm, minimalist space designed for efficiency, style, and coastal ease.

About The Project

This 500 SQ FT ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) was built by the parents and thoughtfully designed by Blum Remodeling as an independent living space for a college student, who moved back home. Our team at Blum Remodeling focused on delivering a compact but luxurious space, emphasizing craftsmanship, natural light, and design efficiency.

What makes this project stand out is the restraint: nothing is over designed. Instead, everything is intentionally placed to maximize flow, warmth, and daily comfort.

Mid-Century Modern Warmth

We chose flat-panel walnut cabinetry throughout the kitchen and bath to bring in natural wood tones that ground the space. These warm finishes contrast beautifully with the crisp white quartz countertops and soft white tile.

Patterned Tile & Floating Design in the Bath

A mix of bold patterned floor tile and stacked subway shower tile gives the bathroom depth and charm. The floating walnut vanity reinforces the modern, airy aesthetic and creates space in a narrow footprint.

Indoor/Outdoor Connection

A covered patio outside the main entrance allows for comfortable outdoor seating, while large windows in the kitchen and bathroom bring in natural light and garden views—making the 500 sq ft feel much larger than it is.
